Primary care will face many challenges in future, handling our ever so knowledgeable patients and relatives, increasingly litigation conscious public and the change in disease patterns we will encounter in our aging population.

Dementia and other problems of the elderly, behavioral and psychosocial problems of teenagers and young adults will continue to rise. Lifestyle related disorders such as obesity, dyslipidaemia and the rising prevalence of diabetes mellitus, hypertension and heart disease are some of the challenges primary care will have to be prepared to handle. Issues of anticoagulation in atrial fibrillation will be addressed during this conference.

This year we also encourage doctors to present their own clinical cases or other problems that would be of interest to primary care physicians. However, prior notice has to be given to the organizing committee if you wish to present any cases.
Traditional and complementary medicine as well as aesthetic medicine and health screening will be covered for the first time in this conference as these are currently popular amongst our patients.

Workshops will also be conducted on cardiopulmonary resuscitation, wound care and common skin problems.
